Samak khichdi. Sama ki khichdi or vrat ki khichdi is usually made on Navrarti or Ekadashi fasting days. Sama is a small grain which is round in texture and gluten free. Samak is also known as moriyo, mordhan, vari, varai, sama, samvar or vrat ke chawal.

Sama is also known as Moraiyo/moraiya, mordhan, vari, varai, samak, samvat, vrat ke chawal and in English known as Barnyard millet.

A healthy and tasty barnyard millet or samak khichdi which is cooked with minimal spices and is perfect for fasting.

A very light, easy to digest and healthy preparation from barnyard millet, commonly used in fasting.

You can have Samak khichdi using 9 ingredients and 5 steps. Here is how you achieve it.

Ingredients of Samak khichdi

  1. You need 1 bowl of samak.

  2. It’s 1 of chopped tomato.

  3. You need 1,2 of chopped potato.

  4. You need 1 of chopped green chilli.

  5. It’s To taste of salt.

  6. Prepare 1/3 tsp of black pepper powder.

  7. It’s 1/4 tsp of red chilli powder.

  8. It’s 2 bowl of water.

  9. Prepare 2 tsp of ghee.

It's a life savour for me in these days.

After doing prayers and Havana, I prefer to make this quick and healthy khichdi.

Samak Rice is used to prepare Khichdi or Pulav and is generally consumed during festival fasting days.

Since the chaitra navratri is going to start soon, I decided to give this Samak Rice Khichdi a try and I am glad I did.

Samak khichdi instructions

  1. Take oil in pan.add cumin seeds..

  2. Add all chopped material and fry it for 2-4minuts..

  3. Add salt and pepper.

  4. Add washed samak and water In the pan..

  5. It is ready to serve..

The Pulav is done within minutes and is a great source essential nutrients required during the fasting days.

Samak ki khichdi -A healthy gluten free Barnyarn millet and yogurt pilaf ,food for fasting/upvas Samak Ki Khichdi- /samu/moraiyo/samak/ Sama /mordhan /varai or Barnyan millet is a seed ,which is very easily available in Indian stores.
