  7. You need 3-4 of small size green chilli chopped.

  8. You need of some chopped spinach (optional).

  9. You need leaves of coriander.

  10. Prepare 1/2 tbsp of cumin seeds.

  11. You need 1/2 tbsp of turmeric powder.

  12. It’s 1/2 tbsp of coriander powder.

  13. You need 1/2 tbsp of garam masala.

  14. You need to taste of salt.

  15. It’s 4 cup of water.

Khichdi step by step

  1. Take a cooker and heat the oil. Now add cumin seeds let it splutter..

  2. Add chopped potato. Saute for 3 minutes.

  3. Add chopped onions, green chilli,tomatoes and fry for another 2 minutes.and add spinach fry for 1 minutes.add all masalas and mix well..

  4. Add washed and drained rice and soaked dal. Stir it for few minutes..

  5. Add 4cups water. Close the lid of cooker. Cook till 3-4 whistles. Open and mix well. garnish with coriander leaves. Serve hot..

It requires only rice, split mung beans, various warming spices, and ghee—ingredients I always have around and that tend to keep for a while.
