How to Prepare Perfect Mama's Smoking Mac-n-Cheese Delicious, fresh and tasty.

Mama's Smoking Mac-n-Cheese. Not Yo' Mama's Mac 'n' Cheese. Uses three kinds of cheese: sharp white Cheddar, smoked Gouda, and Parmesan. This is a specialty of John's City Diner in Birmingham, Alabama.

I also add some sweet rub into the melted cheese which takes it up a notch.

This is hands down the best mac n cheese I have ever tasted.

It's thick and rich and satisfying.

Ingredients of Mama's Smoking Mac-n-Cheese

  1. Prepare 1 packages of Hillshirefarm hot or regular sausage.

  2. You need 2 cup of Uncooked macaroni (about 8 ounces).

  3. You need 1 of Bar (8 ounces) Sharp cheddar cheese.

  4. Prepare 1 of Bar (8 ounces) Monterey Jack Cheese.

  5. It’s 1/4 cup of Butter.

  6. It’s 1 cup of Heavy Cream.

I made it for the first time yesterday and couldn't wait for leftovers today.

I may have even dreamed about it.

I have a horrendous sweet tooth (ice-cream-chocolate-cake-and-pie tooth, rather), but pastas and breads don't tempt me.

  1. Preheat oven to 350·F.Cut sausage into 1/2 Cubes.Heat a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat for about 3 mins.Add sausage to skillet n cook stirring frequently for at least 3-4mins. or until sausage is lightly browned.Remove sausage from skillet;Keep warm..

  2. Cook macaroni according to package directions.Drain,rinse n Keep warm..

  3. Shred both types of cheese n toss together in a large bowl.Remove 1/2 cup of cheese for topping n set aside.Melt butter in saucepan over medium heat.Stir constantly until cheese melts n sauce is smooth..

  4. Stir in sausage n cooked macaroni.Pour mixture into a greased 2-quart baking dish.Sprinkle reserved 1/2 cup of cheese over top bake 20-25 mins or until edges are bubbling..

  5. A great side dish with pork chops n green beans or what ever ur desired may be.

Mac and cheese is just not something I crave, which is why this recipe - a basic recipe that belongs in everyone's arsenal - is so long in coming.
