  1. It’s of basmati rice.

  2. It’s of yellow moong dal.

  3. Prepare of dry fruits (almonds, cashew, raisins, dried dates etc).

Just fry the rice and dal in a little ghee, add as many chopped almonds, cashews, and pistachios as you want, and cook the khichdi with water.

Dry fruits pulao khichdi instructions

  1. Take rice and dal as per measurement..

  2. Wash both atleast 2-3times. Then spread on a flat plate to soak rice dal for 15 mins..

  3. Chopped dry fruits and saute with little ghee/oil..

  4. Heat ghee/ oil in a cooker, add tempering and little after put rice dal along with dry fruits. Give a nice stir. Add turmeric,salt, rest of masalas and continuous stir. Whole process will be in low flame..

  5. Rice and dal will be dry roasted with masala, add hot water and sugar. Give some stir. Now closed the lid and cook upto for 2 wishtle. Keep for resting time untill vapours out from cooker. Then open the lid..

  6. Serve hot with salad,papad and chutneys..

Cover the pan and cook on a low fire till the rice gets cooked stirring occasionally but gently so that the rice grains do not break.

This Kashmiri pulao is a special one in the sense it doesn't use any vegetables but loaded with nuts and fruits, both in fresh and dried forms.
