Chanadal Khichdi. This chana dal khichdi is unlike the other Indian khichdi varieties which have a thin or medium porridge-like consistency. By the way Khichdi is a term used for one-pot dishes that are made with cereals, lentils and vegetables. In this recipe, the rice grains as well as chana dal lentils are separate and this gives the khichdi a pulav like texture.

It is a super easy recipe which can be made in no time.

Serve Chana Dal Khichdi with Gujarati Kadhi or any raita of your choice.

Chana Dal Khichdi is not the regular khichdi that we cook at our place, but is more like a pulao and tastes amazing.

Chanadal Khichdi instructions

  1. Wash and Soak bengal gram for 1 hour. Soak rice for 15min..

  2. Heat ghee in a pan crackle cumin seeds dry red chilli black pepper star cinemon stick cardamom and bay leaf now add onion slices salt turmeric powder chilli paste and ginger garlic paste peanuts cashew nuts kiss miss. Saute and add bengal gram red chilli powder turmeric powder stir and add 1/2glass water bring 1boil. Now add rice stir and add 1glass water stir well and make 3whistle. Immidiately open after 3whistle add mint leaves and garam masala and lightly stir and serve..
