Hotdogs with Mustard Green, Apple Slaw. Make a quick homemade slaw with cabbage, pepper and celery to top frankfurters for an easy party snack. Finely shred the cabbage, green pepper and celery into a bowl. Mix the mustard, mayo, soured cream, cider vinegar and sugar with some seasoning.

The only change I made to the recipe was to buy prepackaged.

To top my slaw dog, I wanted a coleslaw that was assertive—crunchy, acidic—but not aggressive.

Basically, I wanted something more than the standard blended mess you can get at the grocery store, but nothing that would detract from the hot dog underneath.

As far as ingredients it's cabbage, carrots, onion, ketchup, mustard, mayo, vinegar, habenero (not much!) or cayenne, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.

  1. Slice the mustard greens. Make sure the mustard greens are chopped well. Heat the oil add the greens and sauté for 2 minutes. Slice the apple and add the lemon juice, coating the apple. Slice the radish..

Mix together and cook down til the veggies are soft (the green cabbage should change color) and it all blends together.

I only eat vegan soy dogs now but it's mustard hot dog relish and sometimes sauerkraut when I bother.

When I ate tasty meat flesh (well My all time fave is probably a northeast Italian hotdog with mustard on the dog at the bottom of a pita like pizza bread with potatoes and peppers and onions.

This fresh-tasting slaw combines Granny Smith apples with the traditional cabbage.

Grapes and a light poppy seed dressing sweeten it up.
