Masoor Daal Khichdi. Prepare 3 cup of Basmati rice.

It’s 1 cup of Masoor daal.

It’s 1 of medium size onion.

Prepare 1tsp of Ginger-Garlic paste.

It’s 3 tbsp of Ghee.

You need to taste of Salt.

You need 1 stick of cinnamon.

Prepare 2-3 of clove.

Prepare 5-6 of pepper.

You need 1 tsp of turmeric powder.

You need 1 tsp of Jeera.

Prepare as needed of curry leaves.

You need 3-4 of Green chillies slited.

You need 1 tsp of Garam masala.

Prepare 1 of Bay leaf.
Add hing, turmeric powder, tomatoes and mix well.
Add coriander powder, red chilli powder, garam masala, mix well, now add soaked rice and dal, mix well.
Masoor Dal Khichdi, a very healthy vegan one pot meal made from rice, masoor dal and chow chow with the touch of homemade garam masala.
Once a week, I make sure to prepare dal khichdi with the available vegetables.

Wash the rice and dal together. Keep masala ready.

Take a pressure pan. Add oil. Once oil is hot add all masala, ginger-garlic paste and onion. Cook it on low flame..

Add washed rice and dal. Add turmeric, Garam masala and salt. Add water. Cover it. Cook for some time..

Once it is half done, add some water and close the cooker. Give two whistles. Open and garnish with coriander leaves. Serve with curd or Raita..
This protein rich meal can be tried with any combination of dal (toor dal, channa dal, moon dal) and vegetables (carrot, beans, peas, bottle gourd, nookal etc).
