How to Make Delicious Afia efere Delicious, fresh and tasty.

Afia efere. It is called Afia Efere in the Efik culture. You probably also know it as Ofe Nsala, the Igbo name for it. The Efik version is a little more aromatic because of the addition of Uyayak, the aidan fruit.

It is usually prepared with goat meat or chicken.

Afia Efere is an oilless Efik soup that is guaranteed to wow whoever eats it.

This soup is known popularly as white soup although it doesn't look white in colour, and uses fewer ingredients than its.

You can cook Afia efere using 9 ingredients and 7 steps. Here is how you cook that.

Ingredients of Afia efere

  1. It’s 2 slices of yam.

  2. Prepare of Goat meat.

  3. It’s of Dryfish.

  4. You need of Stockfish.

  5. It’s cubes of Seasoning.

  6. It’s of Crayfish.

  7. You need of Yellow pepper.

  8. You need to taste of Salt.

  9. It’s of Peppersoup spice.

My love affair with white soup started when I met my friend Flo in college, she made me a bowl of Efere with amazing chicken and I was sold forever.

Afia Efere is a simple Efik soup which is very delicious.

Afia Efere is called white soup because it is traditionally cooked without palm-oil using goat-meat or chicken in which case, they are called "afia.

Afia efere step by step

  1. Wash and boil meat with seasoning cubes and small diced onions..

  2. Allow the meat to be soft, add stockfish and cook for 5mins more..

  3. Peel and boil the slices of yam in a clean water without salt until very soft..

  4. Pound into a smooth paste, add two spoons of peppersoup spice into the pot of meat. Add a cup of water and the pound yam paste..

  5. Allow to boil, add yellow pepper, crayfish and allow to boil. You can add small water if to thick..

  6. Allow to boil for 5mins you can add utazi but I garnish mine with Utazi leaf cos I like them fresh..

  7. Serve with pounded yam.

It should be called brown soup.

It's such a special dish; no Efik event is complete without a spicy Afia served with ground yam.

The interesting part is that it's pretty easy to make, you'd just need big meat.

Abak Atama, Afia Efere, Peppersoup, Iwuk Efere, Efere Ibaba are some of the dishes Sometimes to heighten the aroma of the pods you can burn the flesh slightly before use particularly in Afia Efere.
