Easiest Way to Make Appetizing Dal Masoor Khichdi in my style..! Delicious, fresh and tasty.

Dal Masoor Khichdi in my style..!. Made of a wholesome combination of dal, rice and vegetables cooked with aromatic spices, this traditional khichdi gives several nutrients including a significant amount of iron per serving. Flavourful and nutritious, this sumptuous dish is a complete meal in its own right. This masoor dal khichdi however is perfect for Monsoon days.

As a South Indian, I rarely used masoor dal in my cooking before I started blogging.

Ever since, I have been trying out recipes with both whole masoor and masoor dal. 🙂 The Hyderbadi Khichdi uses rice and masoor dal, with some onions and mild spices.

This no oil rice preparation does not need any tadka or any special spices to make and is perfect for busy weekday meal.

You can have Dal Masoor Khichdi in my style..! using 18 ingredients and 4 steps. Here is how you cook that.

Ingredients of Dal Masoor Khichdi in my style..!

  1. It’s 800 grams of Basmati rice.

  2. Prepare 1 cup of dal masoor (yellow lentil).

  3. Prepare 1 of onion.

  4. Prepare 1 tablespoon of Ginger garlic paste.

  5. You need 4-5 tablespoons of Oil for cooking.

  6. Prepare 1/3 teaspoon of Turmeric powder.

  7. You need of Salt as per taste.

  8. It’s 2-4 of Green chili’s.

  9. It’s of Coriander leaves handful.

  10. It’s of Water as per rice quality & quantity as cooking time may vary.

  11. Prepare 1 of star anise.

  12. You need 3-4 of cinnamon sticks.

  13. You need 6-8 of cloves.

  14. You need 4-6 of cardamoms.

  15. You need 1/2 teaspoon of shahi zeera.

  16. It’s of Ghee can be added while it’s hot or it can be served with khichdi.

  17. Prepare of Lime pickle.

  18. Prepare of Any curry to be served with as per choice.

Masoor Dal Khichdi- A quick one pot rice recipe that has been our comfort food since my childhood.

You use, Yellow moong, Pink masoor (red lentils), toor dal or arhar dal (Yellow lentils/split pigeon peas), Urad dal etc to prepare the dish.

Lentils like yellow moong dal or split and skinned green moong dal are used in making khichdi.

But on special occasions like Sankranti Chana dal khichdi is cooked.

Dal Masoor Khichdi in my style..! instructions

  1. Firstly soaked rice with dal Masoor for about 2 hours further take a wok add in oil while it’s medium hot pop in all solid Garam masala as mentioned above after two minutes add chopped onions to it sauté till almost golden then add ginger garlic paste.

  2. Once the ginger garlic paste is also done then add water accordingly to the rice while it comes to a boil add salt, turmeric powder,green chili’s & coriander leaves lastly add soaked rice & dal Masoor once it starts boiling cover the lid & cook for 10 minutes on low flame burner.

  3. Slightly remove the cover & check with a spatula if all the water is soaked & rice is cooked well then turn off the flame let it settle for 10 minutes & enjoy it hot..!.

  4. I have served it With homemade lemon pickle do check my profile I have posted recipe for it & I used my homemade curry & fried papad & ghee.! Alhumdulillah it was a rich & healthy breakfast for the day do try & enjoy with ur loved ones..!.

In North India arhar dal is preferred.
