Odia style moong dal khichdi instructions

  1. First dry roast the moong dal for 2 to 3 minutes. Then soak rice and dal together for atleast 30 minutes..

  2. Heat ghee in a heavy bottomed pan, put jeera and other dry spices into it and sautee it, allow them to crackle..

  3. Now add soaked rice and dal, add salt, turmeric powder mix everything very well add water cover the pan and cook for 10minutes in low flame..

  4. After 10 minutes add sugar and coconut into khichdi and cook for more 5 minutes..

  5. The khichdi is almost ready, turn off the stove and keep the khichdi in rest for more 5 minutes with lid. Serve khichdi hot with dalma or aloo sabzi..

Serve this moong dal khichdi with a dollop of ghee on top and yogurt & pickle on the side!

To start with, grate the coconut.

Wash the rice and moog dal properly.

Then add the rice and moong dal to it and stir it properly.

When it's well fried, add water (double amount of rice) and salt to it and cover it.
