It is made by deep-frying maida flour (plain flour or all-purpose flour) batter in pretzel or circular shapes, which are then soaked in sugar syrup. This dessert can be served warm or cold.

Ingredients of Jalebi

Jalebi step by step

  1. Take a medium size bowl and mix all purpose flour, corn flour and yogurt..

  2. Now add vinegar and water.Mix well in circular motion for at least 5 minutes..

  3. Now add baking soda and give it a gentle mix.Make sure batter is lump free..

  4. Heat oil in a pan and add 1tbsp of ghee..

  5. Pour this mixture to a piping bag/ muslin cloth / tomato ketchup bottle..

  6. Squeeze the piping bag and make round spirals with the batter into the pan..

  7. Fry till jalebis are light golden..

  8. Drop these fried jalebis in the warm sugar syrup for 30 secs..

  9. Serve them hot..

  10. Preparation of Sugar syrup: Take one cup sugar and 1/4 cup water in a pan..

  11. Stir it on low flame until sugar dissolves..

  12. Boil the syrup and add saffron..

  13. Cook until you get one strand consistency in the sugar syrup..

  14. Once the desired consistency is attained switch off the flame and add 1/2 tsp lemon juice and cardamom powder..
