I needed to use up an opened box of elbow macaroni and found this 'recipe for one.' This mac-n-cheese recipe was absolutely delicious.

Ingredients of Baked Mac & Cheese

  1. You need 7 slice of Thick cut bacon.

  2. Prepare 2 cup of Elbow macaroni.

  3. It’s 1 dash of Mustard powder.

  4. You need 1 1/2 tbsp of Italian Spices.

  5. It’s 1 1/2 cup of mozzarella.

  6. You need 1 1/2 cup of Sharp cheddar.

  7. You need 2 1/2 cup of Half & half.

  8. It’s 2 1/2 tbsp of All purpose flour.

  9. You need 1/4 cup of butter.

  10. It’s 1 dash of salt.

  11. Prepare 1 of scallions.

  12. You need 1 tsp of Paprika.

  13. Prepare 1 tsp of Cayenne pepper.

  14. Prepare 1 cup of Colby jack.

  7. Cook flour in butter for approximately 1 minute, stirring constantly..

  8. Add 1 cup of half & half and mix constantly. Add mustard powder, cayenne pepper, paprika, and Italian spices..

  9. Add remaining half & half, constantly stirring..

  10. Continue heating mixture on low heat for approximately 5 minutes..

  11. Slowly add cheese into sauce while stirring. The cheese should not stick at all. Continue adding remaining cheese and mix until cheese is completely melted and there is a consistency..

  12. Place bacon into oven and bake for 10 minutes..

  13. Chop up bacon and scallions..

  14. Slowly mix pasta into cheese sauce. Place pasta into a Pyrex dish..

  15. Place Colby Jack cheese on top of pasta, top off with bacon and scallions..

  16. Bake pasta at 450°F for 35-40 minutes..

  17. Cheese should be browned and crisp when removing pasta from oven. Let it sit for 15 minutes and then serve..

This is the first baked mac and cheese I have made that we could actually eat!

I think using half the red pepper gives it a little heat without overpowering.
